Conflict Gauge: Figure Use Terms
1. Free figures
Figures, charts and CSV files on the free pages of conflictgauge.com (the free digest, the free sample edition, answer and showcase pages) may be quoted and republished by anyone, in any medium, with:
- the credit line "Source: Conflict Gauge: Iran (conflictgauge.com)", and
- a link to the page the figure comes from, where the medium allows a link.
You may resize a chart or restyle it to fit your publication. You may not change the figures, remove the date of the data, or present a figure as showing a cause when the page states a measured pattern.
2. Paid figures
Subscribers may use figures, charts, texts and CSV files from paid editions:
- Inside their own organisation, freely, with the credit line (for example in internal briefings, reports and presentations).
- Outside their organisation, quoting up to 3 figures or charts from an edition in an article, report or post, with the credit line and the edition's date.
Anything beyond that, including republishing a paid edition or a substantial part of it, publishing paid CSV files, or using paid content in a product or service for others, needs the team plan (where the Terms of Sale allow it) or a licence. Write to editor@conflictgauge.com.
3. AI agents and tools
An AI agent or tool may read and summarise Conflict Gauge for the subscriber it works for, on any plan. Passing edition content to other people's users or customers needs the team plan or a licence. Output an agent produces for its own subscriber follows sections 1 and 2 when it is published.
4. Not allowed
- Reselling, sublicensing or redistributing editions, figures or datasets, alone or combined with other data.
- Building or training a dataset, product or model for others from Conflict Gauge content without a licence.
- Removing credit lines, dates, limit lines or source credits.
- Sharing sign-in links, sessions or API keys to give others access.
5. Sources
Conflict Gauge figures are built from many sources, credited in each edition's appendix and on the Sources page. Third-party data keeps its own licence; where a source requires attribution, its credit stays with the figure. Aviation data is credited to adsb.lol.
6. How to cite
Conflict Gauge: Iran (MergeSeat). "<edition or page title>". <URL>. Data as of <date>. Accessed <date>.
7. Press
Journalists can ask editor@conflictgauge.com for a figure with its chart and CSV.
8. Corrections
If we correct a figure after you used it, the corrected revision is published with a note. We ask that you update a republished figure when told of a correction, where you reasonably can.
These terms form part of the Conflict Gauge Terms of Sale (conflictgauge.com/terms).
