Conflict Gauge: Iran, W12, 15 Mar to 21 Mar

Archive edition, built October 2026 on the record as held. Data as of 26 Oct 2026.

Events recorded: 4,854, down 31% on the weekly median of the 15 days of record before it (7,007).

• Escalation days: 0.

• Busiest theatre: Israel, 2,270 events.

• Bab al-Mandab: 38.3 transits a day, against a median of 35.0 over the four weeks before. Transits are the daily count of container ships, bulk carriers, general cargo ships, ro-ro ships and tankers, with no size threshold, tracked by satellite as they cross the chokepoint, each ship counted once per crossing (IMF PortWatch); Lloyd's List counts only cargo vessels over 10,000 dwt, so its figures differ.
