Using the API
Your API key lets your own tools read Conflict Gauge without signing in: a script, a spreadsheet, a notebook or an AI agent. It reads the figures your plan shows you on the site, as data. Connect your agent has ready-to-copy steps for Claude and a script, and says how ChatGPT connects by signing in, with no key.
What a key reads
paid/edition.jsonof each edition your plan covers: the whole edition as structured data. The figure CSVs that
edition.jsonnames, outside the appendix.
Edition pages, the appendix and team cuts need you to sign in.
Get a key
Sign in and open your account, then choose Make a key. The key is shown once, so copy it then. Making a new key revokes the old one, and Revoke the key stops it at once. A lost key is not recovered: make a new one.
Send the key
Send it in the Authorization header of every request, as Authorization: Bearer and the key. Never put it in an address.
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY" https://conflictgauge.com/editions.json
In PowerShell:
Invoke-RestMethod https://conflictgauge.com/editions.json -Headers @{ Authorization = "Bearer YOUR_KEY" }
Find the editions
Start at /editions.json. It lists the editions your key reads, newest first. Each has its label, its kind (week or month), its title, its window (window_start and window_end), the address of its edition.json as edition_json, and the address of each figure CSV under csv. A new edition joins the list when it is released, on Monday at 06:00 Amsterdam time.
Read an edition
Fetch the edition_json address from the list. Each figure in edition.json names its data file under data, as a path inside paid/: findings/finding.frame.volume/data.csv is at /editions/<label>/paid/findings/finding.frame.volume/data.csv. The csv list gives the same addresses in full.
Limits
A key makes up to 500 requests a day, Amsterdam time, and each connector tool call counts as one. A key is personal to your plan: do not share it. Each key's responses carry its fingerprint, as a fingerprint field in JSON and as a last line starting with # in a CSV, so drop that line when you load one.
When a request is refused
401: the key is missing, mistyped or revoked. Check the header, or make a new key on your account page.
403: the key works, but your plan does not cover that file.
404: no released edition has that address.
429: the key has used its 500 requests for the day. It opens again at midnight, Amsterdam time, and the
Retry-Afterheader gives the seconds until then.
